Education

Part of the reason for developing the website has been as an education feature as to how a modern commercial farm operates. The history section demonstrates how farming has mechanised over the past 50 years.

In 2008 we held a very successful open day as part of Open Farm Sunday. Around one thousand people, of which many were families, had the chance to see where their food comes from and the machinery used to sow and harvest the crops. Farm visits from the local school are also encouraged.

Farming is dependent on the daily-weekly-seasonal weather conditions as to what crop yields and quality can be achieved. Daily decisions have to be made as to the level of fertilizers used and chemical thresholds for pests and diseases. Recently we have begun a daily blog and use the social media sites of twitter and facebook to highlight the daily goings on of the farm, along with featuring news and views of farming matters both local and from around the world.
